Solvents
Xylene Xylol
Xylene is a powerful aromatic solvent used to thin a wide range of oil-based coatings including paints, lacquers, varnishes, epoxies, adhesives, anti-rust coatings, porch and deck paints, and synthetic enamels. Beyond thinning, it effectively removes certain adhesives and serves as an excellent cleaner for tools and application equipment immediately after use, before coatings cure. With a flash point between 80–89°F and 100% volatility by weight, xylene delivers strong solvency power across a broad spectrum of industrial and commercial coating applications requiring precise viscosity control or thorough equipment maintenance.
