Solvents
Denatured Alcohol
Denatured Alcohol is a versatile solvent blend primarily composed of ethanol, used to thin shellac, lacquers, resins, and specific inks, as well as fuel for alcohol burners and camping stoves. In flooring and coating applications, it is particularly effective for surface wiping and light cleaning prior to coating application, helping remove contaminants and ensure proper adhesion. With a boiling range of 147–243°F and a flash point between 52–61°F, it evaporates readily and leaves surfaces clean and dry. It should always be handled with adequate ventilation and kept away from all sources of ignition.
